|A great man passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry was born in Knoxville, Iowa, the only child of Ronald and June Brady. He attended school in Bozeman, MT, and graduated from San Fernando High.
Jerry, also known as J.R., entered the Army in 1956. He served in Lebanon and Germany. In 1965 he began working for the Los Angeles City Fire Department but retired in 1974 due to a back injury from a hotel fire. While on the LAFD, Jerry had many side ventures; like truck driving and gold mining. After moving to Bakersfield, Jerry went into the oil business as an independent producer.
Jerry loved to fish. He spent many summers in Trinidad with his buddies. He loved house-boating at Lake Powell with his family and friends and taking the motor home to places like Alaska, the East Coast, and Cabo San Lucas. He always had his dogs with him. He played golf only when he had to and loved his lunches with his friends at Stockdale.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents and a daughter, Robin Day. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sonya Brady; his daughter, Debbie Branson; three grandchildren, Alec, Brock, and Catie; and great-grandson, Luca.
