|A devoted father, grandfather, and brother, Elroy was born in Williston, North Dakota, to Vernon and Lucy Barman. It was in Ray, North Dakota, where he was raised on the family farm, working the land with his dad and brothers. In 1979, Elroy married the love of his life, Peggy, making a home for themselves in Minot North, Dakota. In 1990, Elroy and Peggy moved to Bakersfield, California, with their four children. After moving to Bakersfield, Elroy was employed with California Production Services, which later became Nabors Well Servicing, for 20+ years until 2012, when he retired due to health reasons.
Elroy was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his mother and father, Lucy and Vernon Barman; brothers, Richard, Donnie, and his twin, Leroy Barman; brothers-in-law, Arden Foss, Verlyn Huwe, Frank Delany, and Wayne Anderson. Surviving him are daughter, Kassandra and husband, Matthew Foster; son, Matthew Barman and Lorena Villanueva; son, Brian and wife, Niquie Dahl; son, Brad Dahl; grandchildren, Kailey Dahl, Makayla and Matthew Foster, and Abdon Barman, all of Bakersfield; sister, Marleen Foss of Ray, North Dakota; sister, Arlene and husband, Ken Lund of Mandan, North Dakota; sister, Sandy Delany of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Vern and wife, Jackie Barman of Dickinson, North Dakota; brother, Tim and wife, Jeanie Barman of Bakersfield, California; brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Gloria Tofte of Taft, California; sisters-in-law, Kim Kaus of Bakersfield, California , Barb Huwe of Minot, North Dakota; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 10 a.m., at Saint Johnís Lutheran Church in Bakersfield, California, followed by graveside service at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane.
